How Does The CEREC Machine Work?

The CEREC same-day crown machine uses CAD/CAM technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. Our dentists at McKenzie Dental in Springfield use a CAD camera to take an accurate scans of the damaged tooth and opposing arch. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the doctors use CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology to design the restoration. Then CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) takes over and automatically creates the restoration while you wait. Finally, our dentists bond the new restoration to the surface of the prepped tooth. The whole process takes only about two hours!

What Are The Benefits For Dental Patients?

All porcelain restorations are long-lasting and durable. Porcelain crowns are bonded to the tooth rather than cemented, so there's no need to come back into the office for those pesky re-cements when the crown falls off.
