Brief Introduction
McKenzie Dental Center opened its doors in 1973 to serve the Springfield community. Since we first opened, we’ve expanded our operations, increased our services, launched a dental assisting school, and brought more skilled and experienced people into our dental practice. We have over 200+ years of combined experience in the dental field, and we are using every bit of that experience to provide the best dental services in town.
Our Doctors
Dr. James Lee
Dr. James Lee is the owner and team captain of McKenzie Dental Center. An avid runner, having completed several marathons, Dr. Lee brings his energy and passion to each patient encounter and dental surgery. Since entering the dental field in 1992, Dr. Lee has seen the changes in the dental field, and it is those changes that excites him and drives him to stay on the forefront of dentistry. If not at the clinic, you may find Dr. Lee on the trails, getting to know someone, or serving his community.
Dr. Shakespear
Dr. Shakespear joined McKenzie Dental Center in 2017, and has made a positive impact on our patients and dental clinic. Having entered the dental field in 2004, Dr. Shakespear brings his passion and excitement everyday for healthy smiles in our patients. Dr. Shakespear combines his interest in technology and dentistry to stay ahead of the curve on the advancements in dental technology that allow for better care. If not working, you may see him running, gaming, or volunteering in his community!
Dr. Ofisa
Dr. Ioane Ofisa, or “Dr. John” (Ioane is Samoan for John!), joined the dental field in 2006, and has grown his passion for the field as it allows him to connect with and help people. Having an endless list of hobbies, including cooking, cold plunging, bodysurfing, Dr. Ofisa finds the fun in everything he does. Dr. Ofisa joined the dental field to help anyone regardless of insurance, and has been a long time participant for Caring Hands Worldwide to help people who need dental services but may otherwise be unable to receive dental services.
Our Office Manager
Makayla joined McKenzie Dental Center in 2020, and it was her entry to the dental field. Having completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Oregon, Makayla knew that her education and experiences would make her a good candidate for the field. As our Office Manager, Makayla is always looking for new ways to grow and help our patients, and stays excited by learning new dental procedures! If she’s not working, you may find her doing arts and crafts or playing soccer!
Our Administrative Lead
As Administrative Lead, Ari oversees the front office operations to manage scheduling, patient communications, supporting the team where she can, and creating smooth and positive experiences for our patients and staff. Ari is passionate about helping patients rebuild their confidence, especially those who have had negative experiences, and is always helping our patients feel comfortable throughout their visit through compassionate communication and collaboration. As an outdoors-oriented individual, Ari loves the coast, gardening, arts and crafts, and family time.
Our Clinical Director
Amanda joined the dental field in 2002, with a desire to focus on prevention and education as opposed to treatment. Amanda’s goals are still the same today, as she continues to educate our team and patients in a supportive and encouraging way as our Clinical Director. At our clinic, you’ll find Amanda helping patients in various ways to ensure that they receive the best possible care. As much as Amanda takes initiative to help out our dental clinic, she puts into helping out her community!
Our Treatment Coordinator
McKenzie, our Treatment Coordinator, brings her excitement and passion in connecting with our patients and helping them with their dental health and goals everyday. Always passionate and a team player, McKenzie chose the dental field because she was ready to set her career roots in the field of dentistry. If not working you may find McKenzie running, playing pickleball or axe throwing!
Our Dental Assisting School Lead Instructor
Marie joined the dental field in 2009 and is our Lead Dental Instructor for our dental assisting school, McKenzie Dental Practices of Oregon, LLC (mdporegon.com), and also uses her experience as our Insurance Coordinator. Marie joined the dental field as she enjoys helping others whether that is our patients or our coworkers. Marie has quite the resume in dental certificates, and uses her dental knowledge to train future dental assistants and current dental professionals, while coordinating insurance!
Our Marketing Director
Casey first considered joining the dental field from the encouragement of her grandfather to pursue a career in healthcare. After shadowing, Casey saw the positive impact, kindness, and the relationship building with patients as meaningful reasons to join the field, and in 2022 joined McKenzie Dental Center. While initially working as a Dental Assistant, Casey is now also our Marketing Director. By combining her creativity, relationship building, and knowledge of dentistry, Casey builds lasting connections while providing meaningful services to patients in need of dental care.
